Chandigarh, September 7: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) will stage district-level dharnas to expose alleged anti-people policies of Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab.

In a statement here, SAD working president Balwinder Singh Bhunder said district-level dharnas would begin on September 10 from Ludhiana, followed by Ferozepur on September 11, Fazilka on 12, Moga on 13, Sri Mukatsar Sahib on 16, Bathinda on 17, Mansa on 18, Sangrur on 19, Barnala on 20 and in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar on September 23.

He said the party would expose the government on how it had allegedly failed the common man by withdrawing power subsidies, repeatedly increasing VAT on petrol and diesel, increasing bus fare by 23 paise per km, besides other alleged anti-people decisions, including increasing tax on vehicles and registration fees of land deeds.

Bhunder alleged that law and order had collapsed completely under Bhagwant Mann’s leadership and gangsters were ruling the state in which dacoities, loot, extortions, murders had become the order of the day. He claimed that due to this the industry was shifting from the state.

He said the SAD would expose the Bhagwant Mann government on how it was working against the "interests of farmers, traders, labourers, common man and all other sections of society".
