PTC Web Desk: Ahead of the upcoming Panchayat elections, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has called a core committee meeting on October 13 at 12 noon at the party's Chandigarh headquarters. The meeting will be chaired by SAD's acting president, Balwinder Singh Bhundar.

SAD leader Dr Daljit Singh said discussions would focus on the alleged undermining of democracy in the Panchayat elections, ongoing paddy procurement crisis, and the current political situation in both Punjab and the country.

The Panchayat elections in Punjab are set to take place on October 15. Several SAD-supported candidates faced rejection of their nominations, prompting the party to file petitions in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The court has stayed the election process in some villages, while hearings on other petitions are scheduled for Monday. During the meeting, the party will strategise on how to proceed with the election process under these circumstances.
