Panchayat Elections 2024: Panchayat elections announced in Punjab; voting to be held on October 15

Punjab Panchayat Elections 2024: The State Election Commission on Wednesday officially announced the schedule for the Punjab Panchayat Elections 2024. The voting will take place across the state on October 15. 

According to the notification, candidates can begin filing nominations on September 27. The deadline to file nominations is October 4.

Following this, documents will be scrutinised on October 5 to guarantee compliance with election rules and regulations. Candidates will have until October 7 to withdraw their nominations.

Raj Kamal Chaudhuri, State Election Commissioner, stated that there are 13237 gram panchayats in the state. The state will set up 19,110 polling stations. The total number of registered voters is 13,397932. The polls would be conducted using ballot boxes.

The model code of conduct has been implemented in the state with the announcement of panchayat elections.
