Kangana Ranaut's controversial 2020 post resurfaces amid actor's recent assault
At the Chandigarh airport, Kangana Ranaut, the BJP MP-elect, was hit and mistreated by a female CID constable who took significant exception at her prior comments criticising farmers' protests.
PTC News Desk: During a security check at the Chandigarh airport on Thursday, Kangana Ranaut, the recently elected BJP MP from the Mandi Lok Sabha constituency in Himachal Pradesh, grabbed headlines after being slapped and mistreated by a female CISF constable.
The fiery actor-turned-politician was going through security checks prior to boarding Vistara flight UK707 to Delhi when the incident occurred.
The accused female constable, Kulwinder Kaur, is seen speaking with passengers at the airport in one of the numerous recordings of the incident that went popular on social media, most likely following the attack. In the footage, Kaur is heard vehemently objecting to Kangana Ranaut's divisive comments made during the 2020 farmers' protest.
According to Kangana's comments, farmers in Delhi were staging protests due to their payment of either Rs 100 or Rs 200. In the alleged video, Kaur stated, "My mother was a protester at the time."
Later, the cop was placed under suspension and brought to jail. The Central Industrial Security Force issued an order for a court of inquiry into the occurrence after receiving a formal complaint against her.
Giving a detailed account of the incident, Kangana Ranaut said that she had been contacted a lot about it by the media and her well-wishers.
The BJP MP said that she was slapped in the face by a constable who had approached her from the side before he started to insult her. The officer claimed she supported the farmer demonstrations when Kangana questioned her about the motive behind the attack.
"Although I feel secure, I am worried about the rise in terrorism in Punjab. How do we respond to that?" stated Kangana.
WHAT IS THE DISPUTE ABOUT?
Let's go back to 2020, when a large number of farmers marched against the now-scrapped farm regulations towards Delhi.
When Kangana Ranaut mistook an elderly protester for Bilkis Bano, a well-known character from the Shaheen Bagh protests, she courted controversy during the farmers' protests. The actress had stated that the woman was "available for Rs 100" to take part in protests in a since-deleted tweet.
Significant criticism and anger followed this statement, including a vocal altercation on X between actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh and actress Kangana Ranaut, who warned the latter to quit stirring animosity and criticized the former for propagating false information.
Kangana removed the post after receiving a lot of backlash, but not before receiving multiple legal notices requesting an unreserved apology.
