PTC Web Desk:  On the crucial vote-counting day in Jammu and Kashmir, National Conference (NC) leader Omar Abdullah shared a selfie as initial trends show him leading in both the Budgam and Ganderbal constituencies. Meanwhile, Iltija Mufti from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) is trailing in the Srigufwara-Bijbehara seat.

The early trends indicate that the alliance between the Congress and the NC has secured a majority, surpassing the halfway mark with 51 seats in the 90-member Jammu and Kashmir Assembly. Sharing his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter), Mr. Abdullah expressed optimism, stating, “Last time around, it didn’t end well for me personally. Insha Allah, this time around it will be better.”

Addressing mediapersons, Omar Abdullah emphasised the importance of respecting the people's mandate, urging that there should be no interference or manipulation by the Centre or the Raj Bhavan. “Transparency should be there. Whatever happens should be done in a transparent manner. If the mandate of the people is against the BJP, then the BJP should not indulge in any 'jugaad' (machinations) or something else,” he remarked.

Abdullah further stressed that both the Centre and the Raj Bhavan should respect the electoral outcome just as his party did during the parliamentary elections, urging for an acceptance of the democratic process.
