Haryana Assembly Elections 2024: The Haryana Assembly elections, set for October 5, are expected to significantly impact Haryana's political landscape, particularly for the Haryana Congress. Abhay Singh Chautala, a key Jat leader and the face of the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) in Haryana, is preparing for a comeback to reclaim the party's former dominance in the state.

The INLD is establishing alliances to boost its chances. By joining forces with the Lokhit Party, the party seeks to gain support from the rural and agricultural Jat communities. Furthermore, the party's alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) is aimed at capturing votes from the Scheduled Castes (SC), a demographic where the BSP has significant influence. Political analysts see this alliance as a powerful combination with the potential to appeal to voters across the state.

Previously, Congress was the dominant party in the Bagad region, giving voters few options. However, the rise of the INLD has changed the political landscape in this region. The potential support of regional leaders like Sirsa's Gopal Kanda could shift the balance even further.

Analysts say the INLD's approach of teaming with the BSP and HLP for the 2024 elections is a wise one, aimed at merging SC and Jat votes for increased support, particularly in Bagad. This move is due in part to the Congress party's perceived neglect of the Bagad region under Bhupendra Singh Hooda.

As a result, the INLD-BSP-HLP alliance is emerging as an appealing choice that is in line with regional interests. The INLD, which was once a prominent player in Haryana politics, has recently lost ground but is now preparing to contest at least 30 seats in the upcoming elections, showing its desire to regain influence.
