The BJP has ruled Gujarat for 27 years, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi serving as Chief Minister for the longest time before becoming Prime Minister.

In the 2017 assembly elections, the Congress party fought hard against the ruling BJP. However, AAP may sabotage Congress's chances by stealing a significant vote share in their favour.
