FIR against Union minister Ravneet Singh Bittu for calling Rahul Gandhi 'No. 1 terrorist'

PTC Web Desk: An FIR has been lodged in Bengaluru against Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu following allegations that he referred to Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi as the "number one terrorist in the country."

The complaint, filed at the High Grounds police station on Wednesday, accuses Ravneet Singh Bittu, who also serves as the Minister of State for Food Processing Industries, of making inflammatory remarks.

The controversy erupted from comments made by Bittu on September 15 during a media interaction. He claimed, “They tried to use Muslims to create divisions but failed, and now they are attempting to divide Sikhs. The most wanted people in this country had made statements even before Rahul Gandhi reacted. Even terrorists supported and praised Rahul Gandhi’s remarks. When such people are endorsing him, then he is the number one terrorist of the country.”

Ravneet Singh Bittu, a three-time MP from Congress who joined the BJP before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, is now facing legal scrutiny over these statements.

In a separate incident, the High Grounds police have also filed a case against Karnataka BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal. The FIR alleges that Yatnal, during a media event in Nagamangala on September 14, made personal attacks on Rahul Gandhi, questioning his lineage and identity. Yatnal reportedly stated, “Rahul Gandhi doesn’t even know his own religion and caste; whether he was born as a Muslim, Christian, or Brahmin. His father is someone else and his mother is from Italy. The great-grandson of Jawahar Lal Nehru is like a country pistol.”
