PTC Web Desk: The Delhi BJP has intensified its criticism of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) by releasing an "aarop patra" (charge sheet), accusing the ruling party of corruption and making unfulfilled promises.

Addressing a press conference at the Delhi BJP headquarters, party MP and former Union Minister Anurag Thakur said the document highlighted instances of alleged corruption by AAP and its failure to deliver on electoral commitments. "This charge sheet narrates stories of AAP's corruption. Arvind Kejriwal made lofty promises about free medical services, water, and electricity, but people are still paying for these basic amenities," Thakur said.

Anurag Thakur further alleged, "Arvind Kejriwal claims to be number one, but in what? Delhi has the costliest water in the country, is the most polluted capital globally, and is governed by the most corrupt ministers in India. AAP promised to make Delhi corruption-free, yet eight of their ministers and 15 MLAs have been jailed."

The BJP also accused the AAP of accepting $1.6 million in funding from Sikhs For Justice (SFJ), an organisation banned for its Khalistani connections. Referring to Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, leader of the SFJ, the BJP alleged that he admitted to the financial support. The saffron party also accused AAP of seeking the backing of Khalistani groups during the Punjab Assembly elections and providing protection to illegal Rohingya immigrants in Delhi.

Thakur criticised Kejriwal for allegedly reneging on multiple promises. "Kejriwal once claimed he wouldn’t align with Congress but later sought their support. He said he wouldn’t live in a bungalow, yet resides in a luxurious one. He vowed not to use government cars but drives one of the most expensive vehicles. This charge sheet exposes the reality of Kejriwal, who is a betrayer of Delhi," Thakur said.

The Delhi BJP’s accusations come as the AAP prepares for the upcoming elections. The term of the 70-member Delhi Legislative Assembly ends on February 23, 2025, and polls are expected to be held before then.s.
