BJP leader LK Advani's health worsens, admitted to Delhi Apollo Hospital

PTC Web Desk: Veteran BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani, aged 97, was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Delhi late Friday  night after his health worsened. LK Advani, who celebrated his 97th birthday last month, has been facing recurring health issues in recent months. This hospitalisation marks his fourth since July, with previous treatments taking place at both Apollo Hospital and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi.

BJP spokesperson K Krishna Sagar Rao wished LK Advani a swift recovery, calling him "our tallest leader." "I pray for a good, healthy recovery for our tallest leader, Shri. LK Advani, as he is admitted into Apollo Hospital, Delhi," Mr. Rao posted on X.

Born on November 8, 1927, in Karachi, Advani joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in 1942. Over the years, he became a prominent figure in Indian politics, and serving as the longest-serving National President of the BJP. He also held crucial roles in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led NDA government, serving as Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister from 1999 to 2004.

In March 2024, Advani was conferred the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award, by President Droupadi Murmu.
