New Delhi, August 10: Aam Aadmi Party's Raghav Chadha responded to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s allegations of "forged signatures" by challenging the BJP to provide evidence of the alleged forgery. This exchange arose after five Rajya Sabha MPs - S Phangnon Konyak, Narhari Amin, and Sudhanshu Trivedi of BJP, M Thambidurai of AIADMK, and Sasmit Patra of BJD - claimed that their names were included without consent in a motion proposed by Chadha in the House.

During a press conference in the national capital, Chadha addressed the allegations, stating, "I challenge the BJP leaders to bring forth the paper on which forged signatures were done." He emphasized that, according to the rulebook, an MP can propose a name for committee formation without requiring the signature or written consent of the person proposed.

Chadha also appealed to the media to present the truth, indicating his intention to file complaints against a section of the media perpetuating misinformation about him. He announced his plans to lodge complaints both with the Court and the Privileges Committee against the MPs who accused him of forging signatures.

Accompanying Chadha at the press conference, AAP leader Sanjay Singh criticized the BJP government for its handling of the situation and compared it to the treatment of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Singh noted, "The BJP's mantra is to tell a lie 1,000 times to make it sound like the truth. The BJP floated this false narrative that signatures were forged."

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, speaking in the Rajya Sabha on the Delhi Services Bill, referred to the ongoing situation, saying, "Two members (BJD MP Sasmit Patra and BJP MP Dr Sudhanshu Trivedi) are saying that they have not signed the motion (to be part of the select committee) moved by AAP MP Raghav Chadha. Now it is a matter of investigation how the motion was signed."
