Patiala: Ban on paddy harvesting from 7 pm to 10 am

Patiala, September 23: In exercise of the powers conferred under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure , 1973 (2 of 1974), Additional District Magistrate Gurpreet Singh Thind ordered ban on paddy harvesting from 7:00 pm to 10:00 am in Patiala. Notably, the harvesting of paddy crop started this year and it has been observed that harvesters work twenty four seven. Therefore green harvest turns black on drying and increases the quantity of wet moisture as they have been kept overnight. When to sell in market, the procurement agencies refused to buy it as the moisture content was more than the permissible limit. As a result, heaps of unsold paddy accumulate in the markets. The Additional District Magistrate directed the owners of paddy harvesting and implemented the ban on paddy harvesting from 7 pm to 10 am till November 22, 2022.
