Patiala: 55 private schools get show-cause notice over fee irregularities
Patiala, May 22: The district administration on Saturday issued show-cause notices to 55 private schools in Patiala, including prominent institutions, for irregularities in fees. The notices have been issued over the alleged violation of the Punjab Regulation of Fee of Unaided Educational Institutions Act. A team of government school principals and headmasters inspected the private schools, according to Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney. "The schools were also inspected by the district education officer, who gave 55 schools show-cause notices for violating state government fee regulations," she said. The schools have been issued show-cause notices and are asked why action should not be taken against them under Sections 14 (1) and 14 (4) of the Punjab Regulation of Fee Unaided Educational Institutions Act, 2016. The private schools in the district are directed to respond within the week and “If they do not submit their response in the stipulated period, unilateral action will be taken under the provisions of the act," according to Deputy Commissioner Sawhney. Earlier, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann had directed private schools not to increase their fee during this academic session.
