Omicron threat forces Uttarakhand to impose night curfew again
Amid the rising cases of Covid-19 new variant Omicron, the Uttarakhand Government has imposed imposes night curfew from 11 pm to 5 am starting tonight, till further orders.
The Uttarakhand Police said private vehicles, too, would have the permission to commute for emergencies during the night curfew with strict adherence to Covid SOPs and safety protocols.

No restrictions in Punjab so far
On the other hand, there are no restrictions in Punjab for now, according to the Deputy CM's office. As per a statement from the office of the Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab Om Parkash Soni, no Covid-related restrictions will be imposed in Punjab for now. No Omicron case has been detected in the state so far.
On the other hand, in the backdrop of increased detection of the Covid-19 Variant of Concern (VoC) Omicron in different parts of India, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has also directed all states and Union Territories (UTs) to observe all precautions, and not let the guard down.

In a letter issued to the Chief Secretaries of all states, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla stressed the need for “greater foresight, data analysis, dynamic decision making, and strict and prompt containment actions at the local and district levels, based on the assessment of the situation”.
The Omicron tally in India has reached 578. On the other hand, the country logged 6,531 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours.
