Coronavirus Update: The Union Health Ministry on Tuesday, while addressing the media persons, said that new COVID-19 recoveries have been more than new cases in recent days. Rajesh Bhushan, Secretary, Union Health Ministry, while briefing about the COVID-19 situation in India, said that "Active cases are below 10 lakh for the last 2 weeks while the recovery rate is at 84 percent." New recoveries have been more than new cases in recent days," Rajesh Bhushan added. Also Read | Ministry of Education releases guidelines for reopening of schools The Health Secretary further said "10 states including Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh account for 77 percent of the active cases in the country." Meanwhile, 48 percent of COVID-related deaths have been reported from 25 districts in the country. "Out of 25 districts, 15 districts are from Maharashtra," the Health Ministry said, adding, that it is in talks with these states to control the COVID deaths. "The target is to bring fatality below 1 percent," Rajesh Bhushan said. The Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan also said that "It is too early to take a call on the trend of active COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra, whether it is stabilising or not, we need to observe for more time." -PTC News
