Wolf attacks in UP: Man-eater wolf attacks 5-year-old girl in Bahraich

In a fresh attack by a man-eater wolf in Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich, a five-year-old girl was injured last night in the Mahasi Tehsil area.

Wolf attacks in UP: In a fresh attack by a man-eater wolf in Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich, a five-year-old girl was injured last night in the Mahasi Tehsil area. The girl was sleeping next to her grandmother at home when a wolf attacked her; however, swift action by her family and neighbours saved her life.

The injured girl was taken to a nearby community health centre for treatment. 

Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh Police and Forest Department are conducting 'Operation Bhediya' in the Bahraich area to locate two killer wolves. The forest department has so far caught 4 wolves. The pack of wolves is claimed to be responsible for multiple attacks on residents in the area.

10 killed so far

Wolf attacks in Bahraich have killed ten people and injured over 30 others, causing panic in the district's Mahasi Tehsil area. In the last two days, four people, including two children, have been attacked and injured, and one girl child has died.

Unidentified animal attacks have also been reported in the nearby Sitapur district. Three women were reportedly injured in what locals described as wolf attacks. A divisional forest official stated that the agency collected samples and ruled out a tiger or wolf attack.
