West Bengal: Three coaches of Secunderabad-Shalimar Superfast Express derail near Howrah
Relief trains and medical assistance from Santragachhi and Kharagpur have arrived at the site of the derailment
Train derailment: Three coaches of the Secunderabad-Shalimar Superfast Express derailed near Howrah in West Bengal Saturday morning. The incident occurred in Nalpur, approximately 40 km from Kolkata. Fortunately, no casualties or significant injuries have been reported so far.
According to South Eastern Railway, "A parcel van and two coaches of the 22850 Secunderabad-Shalimar Weekly Express derailed while passing through Nalpur station in the Kharagpur Division at 5.31 am today. There are no major injuries or casualties."
The derailment took place as the train was shifting from the middle to the outer tracks, officials confirmed. Relief trains and medical assistance from Santragachhi and Kharagpur have been deployed to the site. Additionally, buses have been arranged to transport stranded passengers to their destinations.
