Gyanvapi mosque: 'Vyas Ka Tehkhana' should be renamed as 'tal Grih' or 'tal ghar’, know why

Gyanvapi mosque: After the Varanasi district court permitted Hindus to conduct prayers in the southern cellar of the Gyanvapi mosque, Nagendra Pandey, Chair of Kashi Vishwanath Trust, suggested renaming 'Vyas Ka Tehkhana' to 'tal Grih' or 'tal ghar'. Pandey expressed, "This should be renamed 'tal grih' or 'tal ghar'. It is a very good name. This word and what it means are pious,", Nagendra Pandey said. 

In response to this development, the Masjid Intezamia Committee of Gyanvapi mosque filed a revision petition in the Allahabad High Court on Thursday, challenging the Varanasi court's decision allowing Hindus to pray in the southern cellar of the Gyanvapi mosque.

In its plea filed with the HC, the mosque committee sought a stay on the Varanasi court order.
Arguing that the petition regarding the maintainability of the suit under Order 7, Rule 11 has not been decided, the panel, in its plea, said the order allowing Hindus to pray in the disputed area was not correct.
In a major victory for the Hindu side, Varanasi court granted permission to Hindu petitioners to conduct worship inside the formerly sealed basement of the Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi on January 31.

After the order of the court, "puja" and "aarti" were performed in the early hours on Thursday.

The mosque has four 'tahkhanas' (cellars) in the basement, of which one is still in the possession of the Vyas family, who used to live there. Vyas had petitioned that, as a hereditary pujari, he be allowed to enter the tahkhana and resume pooja.
