Viral news: At least 11 people have been booked after a man brought goats to his Mumbai apartment ahead of Eid, prompting slogans of Jai Shri Ram and recitals of the Hanuman Chalisa in protest.
Police managed to bring the matter under control and filed a case against 11 in connection with the incident.
The incident occurred on Mira Road in Thane, near Mumbai, where resident Mohsin Sheikh had brought the animals into his home ahead of Bakrid, which is usually marked by the sacrifice of livestock.
Many members of society were outraged by the move, and they gathered to protest. Protesters raised religious slogans and recited the Hindu devotional hymn Hanuman Chalisa.
"Our society had passed a rule that no livestock would be allowed inside the society, but they violated it and brought two goats inside," one resident said.
As the tensions escalated, police were called to the scene to manage the situation. "We appeal to all to maintain communal harmony and follow the rules of the society," another resident stated.
Despite the officers' intervention, there was a brief clash between the officers and certain members of the society.
The police informed society members that no sacrifices were permitted within the society, and requested Sheikh to remove the animals in consideration of other residents' sentiments.
