Vinesh Phogat resigns as DSD of Northern Railway amid rumours of contesting Haryana polls

New Delhi, September 6: Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat, who is posted as Deputy Station Superintendent (DSD) of Northern Railway, has tendered her resignation with immediate effect. In a formal letter addressed to the General Manager of Northern Railway, Vinesh Phogat has cited personal and family reasons for her decision to step down from this role, though rumours are making rounds that she might contest the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections on Congress ticket.



In her resignation letter, Vinesh Phogat, who has been serving as the Deputy Station Superintendent in Level-7, expressed her inability to continue in his position due to pressing family matters. I am unable to fulfill my responsibilities effectively under the current circumstances," she has said in the resignation letter. Vinesh Phogat has requested that her resignation be accepted immediately.

In the Paris Olympics 2024 held recently, Vinesh Phogat was disqualified from competing in the final of the 50kg weight class for being 100 gram over the permissible limit.
