UP Congress calls off protest march until December 10 to Sambhal after scuffle breaks out with cops

Earlier in the day, Ajay Rai had announced that he would march towards Sambhal while defying police orders despite heavy security measures.

PTC News Desk: The Uttar Pradesh Congress has called off its planned march to violence-hit Sambhal after a clash with police outside the party office in Lucknow. State party chief Ajay Rai has also announced that due to the restrictions party has now decided to postpone the march until December 10.


A scuffle broke out between Uttar Pradesh Police and Congress leaders on Monday outside the UP Congress Office in Lucknow after the Congress delegation led by State President Ajay Rai was prevented from going to visit violence-hit Sambhal prompting party workers to stage protest and raise slogans against the authorities. 


"The DCP and other police officials have said they will inform us when the restrictions are lifted. The day the police inform us, a delegation of the Congress party will visit Sambhal," Rai said.
