Simi Grewal remembers Ratan Tata as a cherished friend: 'It's too hard to bear your loss'

PTC News Desk: Simi Grewal, the renowned actress and television host, expressed her heartfelt sorrow over the passing of industrialist Ratan Tata, a close friend and a significant figure in Indian business. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), she shared a heartfelt tribute featuring a collage of images from Ratan Tata’s appearance on her iconic talk show, Rendezvous with Simi Garewal. In her emotional post, she wrote, "They say you have gone... It’s too hard to bear your loss... too hard... Farewell my friend... #RatanTata."


Ratan Tata, the Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons and a stalwart in the business world, passed away at the age of 86 on Wednesday in Mumbai. He had been in intensive care at a local hospital since Monday, where his health had been critical.

In addition to Simi Grewal, numerous celebrities from the Indian film industry paid tribute to the visionary leader. Anushka Sharma, Priyanka Chopra, Salman Khan, and Varun Dhawan all shared their condolences and memories in his honour. Notably, Kamal Haasan also took to X to express his admiration, describing Ratan Tata as a personal hero and a national treasure.


Haasan reflected on their encounter during the national crisis following the 2008 Mumbai attacks, stating, "In that moment of national crisis, the titan stood tall and became the embodiment of the Indian spirit, to rebuild and emerge stronger as a nation." He continued, emphasizing that Tata's true wealth was not material but rather rooted in his ethics, integrity, humility, and patriotism.

Salman Khan echoed similar sentiments, stating on X, "Deeply saddened by the passing of Mr. Ratan Tata."


Ratan Tata was not only a leading figure in business but also one of the most followed entrepreneurs in India, boasting over 13 million followers on X and nearly 10 million on Instagram, as noted in the 360 ONE Wealth Hurun India Rich List 2023.

Simi Grewal, a prominent figure in Indian cinema, is celebrated for her roles in classic films such as Do Badan (1966), Saathi (1968), Mera Naam Joker (1970), Siddhartha (1972), Karz (1980), and the Punjabi film Udeekaan. She also gained fame for her celebrity talk show, Rendezvous with Simi Garewal, which became a platform for intimate conversations with various stars.
