Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev undergoes emergency brain surgery

PTC News Desk: Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, the spiritual guru and founder of the Isha Foundation, underwent emergency brain surgery at Apollo Hospital in Delhi due to massive swelling and bleeding in his brain.

Sadguru was examined by Dr Vinit Suri, a senior consultant neurologist at Apollo Hospitals, and advised to have an MRI, which revealed massive bleeding in his brain, said Isha Foundation.

"He's had a headache for the past four weeks. The headache was severe, but he ignored it because he needed to go about his daily activities," Dr Suri said. "Even though he was in excruciating pain, he attended the Mahashivratri function on March 8. On March 15, the pain became severe, and he consulted with me. At 4 p.m., I recommended an MRI, but he had an important meeting at 6 p.m. and did not want to miss it. However, an MRI was performed later, which revealed that he had massive bleeding in the brain. It is located outside the brain and below the bone. Suri said there was massive bleeding twice: once about three weeks ago and again two to three days ago," he added.

Sadhguru's neurological condition deteriorated rapidly on March 17, and his level of consciousness gradually decreased.

A team of doctors, including Dr Vinit Suri, Dr Pranav Kumar, Dr Sudheer Tyagi, and Dr S Chatterjee, performed the surgery to stop the bleeding within a few hours of admission.

Sadhguru was weaned off the ventilator following surgery.

He has made consistent progress, and his brain, body, and vital parameters are improving.
