Republic Day 2024: IPS officer Manoj Sharma - who inspired '12th fail' - gets Medal for Meritorious Service
Republic Day 2024: Indian Police Service officer Manoj Kumar Sharma who inspired the Hindi film '12th Fail', has received the Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM).
On the eve of the 75th Republic Day, 37 Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel received a variety of police and fire service medals.
Manoj Sharma, a 2005-batch Indian Police Service officer from the Maharashtra cadre, his Bihar cadre batchmate Jitender Rana, and a few others were named recipients of the Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM) in a statement released by the Union Home Ministry.
The film '12th Fail', directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, is based on Anurag Pathak's best-selling novel about Sharma and his wife Shraddha Joshi, an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer.
Both Sharma and Rana are on deputation to the CISF and assigned to the force's Aviation Security Wing. As chief airport security officers, the two officers oversee the CISF units at Mumbai and Delhi airports, respectively.
