RBI customer care gets bomb threat from ‘Lashkar-e-Taiba CEO’, probe on
Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) helpline received a bomb threat on Saturday, with the caller claiming to be the “CEO of Lashkar-e-Taiba.”
PTC News Desk: Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) helpline received a bomb threat on Saturday, with the caller claiming to be the “CEO of Lashkar-e-Taiba.”
Around 11 a.m., a caller identified himself as the terrorist group's "CEO" and warned of a bomb at the central bank. He even sang a song before making the threat, according to sources.
Lashkar-e-Taiba, a Pakistan-based terrorist outfit, was responsible for the 2008 Mumbai attacks, which were one of India's worst terrorist incidents.
Mumbai Police has filed a case and is tracking the caller, as the bomb threat coincides with an increase in hoax calls to airlines in recent months, stopping hundreds of flights and increasing fears among aviators and security authorities.
On Thursday, an IndiGo flight from Nagpur to Kolkata made an emergency landing in Raipur following a bomb threat, which eventually turned out to be fake. This is the latest such instance.
The central government has voiced serious concern about the issue, telling social media platforms to take action against the spread of misinformation or face losing their present exemptions in India.
