Rajnath Singh holds bilateral meeting with US spy chief, urges strong action against SFJ for anti-India activities

PTC News Desk: Defence minister Rajnath Singh on Monday raised issues of anti-India activities orchestrated on American soil by the banned Khalistani outfit Sikhs for Justice (SFJ)with US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.

According to the reports, Singh has urged strong action against the unlawful organisation during his bilateral meeting with Tulsi Gabbard.  Singh shared details of the meeting on X (formerly Twitter), stating, "Happy to have met the US Director of National Intelligence Ms Tulsi Gabbard in New Delhi. We discussed a wide range of issues which include defence and information sharing, aiming to further deepen the India-US partnership."

The meeting holds great reverence after US charged Nikhil Gupta, an Indian national for his alleged involvement with another Indian official in the conspiracy to kill Pannun in November last year.

Earlier on Saturday, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval held a meeting with Gabbard, and according to sources, they discussed several facets of the India-US relationship in detail.

In November 2023, the US Justice Department claimed that they have unearthed a plot to kill Gurpatwant Singh Pannun which was orchestrated by Indian government official. The person of interest later was identified as R&AW agent, which is India's spy agency who allegedly attempted to hire a contract killer to murder the SFJ chief.

However India has denied any involvment in the alleged attempts to assassinate Pannun and launched a high-level investigation into the case.
