Rajasthan's Anju, who went to Pakistan to marry FB friend Nasrullah, returns via Wagah Border
PTC Web Desk: Anju, who ventured to Pakistan in July to marry her Facebook acquaintance Nasrullah, has returned India through the Wagah Border.
Formerly known as Anju, the 34-year-old woman now goes by the name Fatima and had been residing in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since July. Media reports in Pakistan indicated that Anju embraced Islam subsequent to her marriage to Nasrullah.
Initially, Anju and Nasrullah had asserted that marriage wasn't part of their plan, intending to return to India by August 20 when her visa expired. Despite their earlier statements, the couple tied the knot a day following these claims.
Pakistan extended Anju's visa by one year in August, recognising her as Fatima post her conversion to Islam upon marrying Nasrullah.
By September, Nasrullah, Anju's husband, expressed concerns about her emotional state, citing her severe longing for her children, according to statements to a news agency.
Hailing from Rajasthan's Bhiwadi district, Anju, a married woman, voyaged to Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province to meet a man she befriended on Facebook and subsequently developed feelings for.
Initially informing her husband Arvind that she was headed to Jaipur for a brief period, he later learned of her travel across the border through media reports.
