Kolkata doctor murder: CBI, which is investigating the r@pe and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar hospital in Kolkata, grilled the medical college's ex-principal Dr Sandip Ghosh on Monday. This is the fourth day in a row he has been summoned by the investigation agency.
Taking moral responsibility for the r@pe and death of the trainee doctor, Dr. Ghosh resigned two days after the crime. However, within hours, he had taken over as head of another medical college. However, the Calcutta High Court invalidated the state government's move, stating that Dr Ghosh should have been the first person questioned in connection with the heinous murder.
Sandip Ghosh arrived at the CBI's city office, CGO Complex, on Monday morning.
Among other questions, he was asked why he kept the victim's parents waiting at the hospital for more than three hours after they were informed of the tragedy, according to reports.
He was also asked to describe his initial reaction after learning about the crime and who he had first contacted. The former principal was also questioned about who allowed the renovation of the rooms near the seminar hall in the hospital's emergency building following the crime.
Officers from the central investigation agency are also checking his mobile phone call list and WhatsApp chat list.
Dr. Sandip Ghosh was questioned for several hours on Saturday and Sunday.
During an earlier probe, the CBI questioned Dr Ghosh about his whereabouts on the night the trainee doctor was raped and murdered.
The CBI officials corroborated his story with the accounts of other doctors and nurses on duty that night.
The CBI also questioned him about who he asked to inform the family and who informed the police.
Dr. Ghosh was also queried about the chest medicine department's weekly roster, which often included 36-48 hours of duty. According to media reports, a CBI officer said that some of Dr Ghosh's responses were confusing.
The report stated that at least two psychologists from New Delhi joined the grilling session on Saturday.
The CBI has compiled a list of around 40 people who will be questioned as part of the investigation into the rape and murder of the trainee doctor. This includes both doctors and police officers.
