Punjab CM offers condolences, Tamil Nadu and Odisha mourn victims of Odisha Train accident
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed his condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in the tragic rail accident in Balasore and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
Chandigarh, June 03: Following the devastating triple train mishap in Odisha, the states of Tamil Nadu and Odisha have declared a one-day state mourning to honor the victims. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed his condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in the tragic rail accident in Balasore and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
In a Twitter post, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann wrote, "Deeply saddened to hear the unfortunate news of the train accident in Balasore, Odisha... Hundreds of people have lost their lives in the accident... My deepest condolences to the bereaved families... I pray to God that those injured in the accident get well soon."
Meanwhile, both Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik declared one-day state mourning in their respective states to mourn the victims of the Balasore train accident, which claimed the lives of 238 people and left 900 injured.
As a mark of respect on the birth anniversary of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party has canceled all events scheduled for Saturday. The party source stated that the cancellation was in response to the tragedy in Balasore, and only the Chief Minister would pay tribute to the Kalaingar Statue and Kalaingar Memorial.

In view of the tragic accident in Odisha, the flagging-off ceremony of the Goa-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express by Konkan Railway has been canceled.
The collision occurred when the Coromandel Express, en route to Chennai, crashed into the derailed coaches of another train traveling from Yeswanthpur to Howrah. The accident took place around 7:20 pm near Bahanaga Bazar station, as the train was heading from the Shalimar station near Kolkata to Chennai Central station.
The entire nation mourns the loss of lives in this tragic incident and stands in solidarity with the affected families during this difficult time.
