Private bus falls into gorge in Himachal's Kullu district: one dead and over 20 injured

PTC Web Desk: In a tragic accident this morning in Himachal Pradesh's Kullu district, a private bus plunged into a deep gorge near Anni, leaving one dead and over 20 injured. The death toll is expected to rise as rescue operations continue.
Kullu DC, Torul S Raveesh said, "The bus driver died on the spot. The passengers have been moved to the hospital for primary treatment. Our team is on the spot."
The bus, travelling from Karsog to Anni, met with the accident around 11.15 am between Anni and Shawad, in an area called Karanthal. Preliminary reports suggest that 20 to 25 passengers were on board at the time of the accident. The vehicle veered off the road and fell approximately 120 metre into the gorge.
Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene with passengers crying for help. Bystanders immediately informed the police, following which teams arrived on site to carry out rescue operations.
The injured passengers were transported to a hospital in Anni for treatment. The cause of the accident has not yet been determined. Further investigations are on.
