Notably, eight people have been charged with assaulting Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw for the second time after the batsman refused to take a selfie with them.
Shaw was in the car when the accused attacked it. Shaw was eventually moved to another vehicle. The accused also followed Prithvi Shaw's friend's vehicle.
According to the complainant, Shaw had gone to a five-star hotel in Santacruz with his friends for dinner when some unknown people approached their table and insisted on a selfie.
The cricketer obliged two people with selfies, but the same group later returned, demanding more selfies. Shaw declined, stating that he had come to eat with friends and did not want to be disturbed.
When they insisted on taking selfies, Prithvi's friend complained to the hotel manager. Following this, the hotel manager asked the accused to leave.
The accused were waiting outside the hotel when Shaw and his friend returned from dinner, and they attacked them with baseball bats and smashed the front and rear windows of their car.
Shaw's friend's car was stopped near Jogeshwari's Lotus petrol pump. A lady approached the car and began abusing them.
The complainant went on to say that the lady demanded Rs 50,000 or she would file a false case.
Following the incident, the complainant went to Oshiwara Police Station and filed a report.
Further investigations are underway.
