President Droupadi Murmu appoints BJP's Bhartruhari Mahtab as protem speaker of Lok Sabha
On Thursday, BJP MP Bhartruhari Mahtab was named pro-tem speaker of the Lok Sabha by President Droupadi Murmu.
PTC News Desk: On Thursday, BJP MP Bhartruhari Mahtab was named pro-tem speaker of the Lok Sabha by President Droupadi Murmu.
Union minister Kiren Rijiju tweeted on X, saying, "President is pleased to appoint Shri Bhartruhari Mahtab, Member, Lok Sabha as Speaker Protem under Article 95(1) of the Constitution to perform the duties of Speaker till election of the Speaker."
"In accordance with Article 99 of the Constitution, the President is also pleased to designate, as Members of the Lok Sabha, Shri Suresh Kodikunnil, Shri Thalikkottai Rajuthevar Baalu, Shri Radha Mohan Singh, Shri Faggan Singh Kulaste, and Shri Sudip Bandyopadhyay, to assist Speaker Protem in administering oaths and affirmations to newly elected Members of the Eighteenth Lok Sabha until the Speaker is elected," Rijiju continued.
