Portion of Panchkula flyover washes away amid heavy rains

Haryana, July 11: Heavy rains in the city of Panchkula swept away a portion of a flyover. Cracks were also seen at many places on the road.

The inclement weather conditions in Panchkula resulted in a destructive impact on the structural integrity of a flyover, leading to a portion of it being washed away. The heavy rainfall overwhelmed the infrastructure, causing erosion and instability. Additionally, cracks were observed at various points along the road, indicating the potential for further damage if not addressed promptly.

Heavy rains across the entire North Indian belt, particularly in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, and Haryana, disrupted not only regular life but also the travel plans of railway passengers.

Severe waterlogging caused railway tracks to become submerged, resulting in the suspension of services and the diverting of trains on the Sanehwal-Ambala route, according to Northern Railway.

"Train services on the Sanehwal-Ambala rail route was affected and several trains were diverted on account of inclement weather and heavy rainfall in North India. Train numbers 18102, 12266, 14034, 12414, 12446, and 12426 were diverted," Deepak Kumar, chief public relations officer at Northern Railway said.

Meanwhile, heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh have caused landslides, power outages, road closures, and bridge damage during the last three days.

Swollen rivers caused by continuous and severe rains revealed nature's anger, claiming the lives of 20 people in the state in the last 48 hours.

Tourists were stuck in sections of the hill state, with an initial government estimate of Rs 3000 crore to Rs 4000 crore in infrastructural damage.
