PM Modi US visit:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi has departed for a three-day visit to the United States, where he will engage in high-profile meetings and international forums. The trip will focus on strengthening India's global ties, participating in the fourth Quad Leaders' Summit, and addressing the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

Here's a detailed look at the key events and objectives of this visit.

Quad Summit in Wilmington

On September 21, Prime Minister Modi will participate in the fourth Quad Leaders' Summit, hosted by US President Joe Biden in Wilmington, Delaware. The Quad, or Quadrilateral Security Dialogue, is an alliance comprising India, the US, Japan, and Australia, focusing on promoting peace, prosperity, and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.

Ahead of the Summit, PM Modi expressed his enthusiasm for working alongside fellow Quad leaders—President Biden, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida—to identify pathways for cooperation. "The forum has emerged as a key group of like-minded countries to work for peace, progress, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region," PM Modi tweeted.

The Summit is expected to address major global issues, including ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, maritime security, emerging technologies, and a new initiative focused on cancer research. Additionally, India is set to host the next Quad Summit, underscoring its growing role in regional diplomacy.

Strengthening the India-US Strategic Partnership

A significant aspect of PM Narendra Modi’s US visit will be his bilateral meeting with President Joe Biden. The leaders will discuss the progress made under the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership and explore new avenues to deepen collaboration in areas such as defense, trade, and technology.

In his tweet, the Prime Minister stated, "My meeting with President Biden will allow us to review and identify new pathways to further deepen the India-US partnership for the benefit of our people and the global good." This meeting is expected to cover key sectors like artificial intelligence, quantum computing, semiconductors, and biotechnology, all critical to both nations’ economic futures.

Engaging the Indian Diaspora and Business Leaders

While in New York, PM Modi will also focus on strengthening ties with the Indian diaspora, which plays a significant role in fostering people-to-people connections between the two democracies. On September 22, he will engage with the Indian community, as well as meet CEOs of leading US-based businesses to explore greater collaboration between India and the US in cutting-edge technologies.

The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted that these engagements aim to deepen cooperation in the areas of technology and innovation, positioning India as a global leader in sectors such as AI and semiconductors.

Addressing the UN General Assembly

On September 23, Prime Minister Modi will deliver an address at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) during the 'Summit of the Future.' The event will bring together several world leaders to discuss pressing global challenges, including climate change, equitable access to vaccines, and economic recovery in a post-pandemic world.

PM Modi’s address will likely reflect India's stance on international cooperation and its commitment to contributing to global peace and security.

Visit Focused on Global Leadership

Through this three-day visit, PM Modi aims to reaffirm India's global standing as a key player in international diplomacy, with a particular focus on the Indo-Pacific region, strengthening the India-US strategic partnership, and addressing global challenges through multilateral forums such as the UN and Quad.
