PM Modi to visit Varanasi for the first time since winning Lok Sabha seat, set to release 17th PM-Kisan instalment today

PTC News Desk: On Tuesday evening, June 18, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh and present the 17th installment of the PM-KISAN initiative. Benefits of over ₹20,000 crore would be given to over 9.26 lakh farmers.

In addition, approximately 30,000 SHGs educated as Krishi Sakhis—who will serve as para-extension workers—would receive certificates from PM Modi.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Governor Anandiben Patel, Union Minister of Agriculture Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and a number of state politicians are scheduled to attend the function.

PM Modi's itinerary in Varanasi

It's anticipated that the prime minister will be in Varanasi for almost 4.5 hours.

Around 4 p.m., Modi is expected to touch down at Babatpur's Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport. At approximately 5 p.m., he will attend the PM Kisan Samman Sammelan. A Samman Nidhi installment will be released by Modi, benefiting 2,76,665 farmers in Kashi. In addition, he will visit 21 farms and assess their harvest.

Modi will attend the Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat in Varanasi at around 7 p.m., and he will visit the Kashi Vishwanath Temple around 8 p.m.

The CEO of the Kashi Vishwanath temple, Vishwa Bhushan Mishra, informed news agency ANI that the Prime Minister will spend roughly twenty-five minutes inside the shrine as per custom.

The occasion

Over 2.5 crore farmers, including those at 732 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), 5 lakh Common Service Centers across the country, and more than 1 lakh Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies, would take part in the event, according to a Monday announcement from the ministry of agriculture and farmers welfare.

"A special event is being planned on the 50 chosen Krishi Vikas Kendras (KVKs), and a sizable number of farmers will be attending. Several Union Ministers will also stop by and speak with the farmers at these centers, according to the statement.

Farmers will receive information on climate-resilient farming, innovative agricultural technologies, and excellent farming practices, according to the ministry. In addition, they will learn how to use the Kisan-eMitra Chatbot and verify their PM-KISAN beneficiary and payment status. Union ministers will also give skilled Krishi Sakhis in the area certificates.
