PTC News Desk: One97 Communications Limited (OCL), which owns the Paytm brand, has enabled its users to make UPI payments in a variety of overseas locations.

According to the company, Indian travellers can now use their Paytm app to make cashless payments at locations where UPI is recognised, including popular destinations in the UAE, Sri Lanka, Singapore, France, Mauritius, Bhutan, and Nepal.

This upgrade enables users to simply pay for all use cases, including shopping, dining, and local experiences overseas, using UPI via the Paytm app.

The company further noted customers can enable UPI International on the Paytm app with a one-time activation linked to their bank account. When you scan a UPI-enabled QR code while abroad, the app will instantly prompt you to activate it for convenient access.

Travellers can choose a usage term ranging from 1 to 90 days based on their trip and disable the service at any moment to guarantee payments are only paid when planned. This feature prevents accidental transactions with international merchants once users return to India, providing additional protection and control.

During the payment process, consumers can view the exact foreign exchange rates and any conversion fees charged by their bank, ensuring complete transparency before completing the transaction.

Paytm's UPI International service allows travellers to easily and confidently manage their spending in prominent foreign places.
