PTC News Desk: Panic gripped Lucknow airport when a dead foetus was found in a courier shipment at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport. A seven-month-old dead foetus being sent to Mumbai by road for testing reached the international airport here by mistake.

"It was not a body (of an infant). A couple here underwent an IVF procedure. But it was not a success. The foetus was being sent to Mumbai for testing to know why the IVF was not successful. The dead foetus was to be sent to Mumbai by road, but it reached the airport by mistake," ACP of Krishnanagar Saumya Pandey said.

The foetus was destined for a Mumbai-based laboratory and was dispatched by a city based IVF centre. However the courier company was not informed about the presence of the foetus in the shipment. Upon scanning at the airport, foetus was detected and informed about the incident to the courier company, hence sending the foetus back to the IVF centre.
