Over 800 cheaters arrested in last year by Uttarakhand Police
The DGP said that apart from those accused of cheating, the police have also taken action against more than 900 land mafia, 200 people involved in recruitment fraud, sending people abroad, and chit funds
Dehradun, April 13: Last year, the Uttarakhand Police have arrested over 800 people who were accused of rigging examinations by cheating. This was confirmed by the state’s Director General of Police Ashok Kumar on Wednesday.
At the instruction of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the police are making sure to take strict action against all cheaters.

The DGP said that apart from those accused of cheating, the police have also taken action against more than 900 land mafia, 200 people involved in recruitment fraud, sending people abroad, and chit funds. 199 drug mafia have been sent to jail under the Mission Nasha Mukt Devbhoomi 2025. Under the Gangster Act, 445 criminals have been dealt with and their property worth Rs 175 crore has been attached. 538 criminals who were wanted and had a reward on their heads have also been imprisoned. 138 accused have been shifted to Badar district under the Goonda Act.
At the beginning of this month, the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UPSC) decided to debar 44 candidates for five years, who had cheated in Patwari/Lekhpal examination. Earlier, the Commission had also banned 61 candidates who cheated in the JE examination. This means that a total of 105 cheating candidates will not be able to appear in any examination of the Commission for the next five years.
In order to prevent any more cheating cases, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced in February that all upcoming exams will be conducted under an anti-copying ordinance of the state.
