Nuh violence: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Wednesday held a press conference over the communal violence in Nuh and said that "rioters would be held accountable and will be made to pay for the loss of properties.

We will make sure that those responsible for the violence in Haryana's Nuh district pay for the loss of property, said CM. He stated that 'those responsible for the violence would be held liable for all private property losses. However, any loss of public property caused by the communal violence will be borne by the state government.'

"We have passed an Act that provides that for any loss, the Government issues compensation for the loss to Public property but those who caused the loss are liable to compensate for it," CM Khattar said.

Haryana Recovery of Damages to Property During Disturbance to Public Order Act, 2021, states that claims of compensation for damages during public unrest should be filed by the legal owner of the property to which damages have been caused.

In the case of central or state government property, the claim for compensation, for any damages incurred, should be filed by the head of the relevant office or any person authorized by the head of office.

CM Khattar stated on X (previously Twitter) that every single culprit of the incident will be brought to justice. Also, rioters will have to pay for any damage caused by the violence.

"I will not let the state's peace and communal harmony deteriorate at any cost. Every single perpetrator of the Nuh incident shall face the consequences of the law. And any damage done there will be reimbursed for by the rioters, as well as recovered from them," he added.
