PTC Web Desk: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the Reasi terror attack case in Jammu and Kashmir and begun an extensive investigation to uncover the underlying conspiracy behind the attack, which raised concerns about security conditions in the Union Territory, officials said on Monday.

The anti-terror agency took over the case from the Jammu and Kashmir Police on June 15 and filed a new First Information Report (FIR) in response to Ministry of Home Affairs orders taking cognisance of the gravity of the incident, in which attackers targeted a bus carrying pilgrims on June 9 evening.

Following the terrorist attack in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir on June 9 evening, a bus carrying pilgrims fell into a gorge, killing at least nine people and injuring 33 others.

A day after the attack, an NIA team visited the scene to help local police and assess the situation.

The NIA's forensic team had also visited the site to help collect evidence.

The NIA's involvement was expected to strengthen the investigation and ensure a thorough examination of the evidence.

The terrorists attacked the bus as it approached from the Ransoo area of the Reasi district.

The rescue operation was completed as quickly as possible, and the injured were taken to nearby hospitals.
