NIA court declares Lakhbir Singh Landa, 5 other aborad-based terror operatives proclaimed offenders

PTC News Desk: Six gangster-turned-terrorist mafia operatives from Canada and Pakistan have been declared proclaimed offenders by a special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court.

Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh Dala of Canada, Ramandeep Singh alias Raman Judge, Lakhbir Singh Sandhu alias Landa of Pakistan, and Harvinder Singh Sandhu alias Rinda, Lakhbir Singh Rode, and Wadhawa Singh Babbar of Pakistan are the six NIA the accused deemed Proclaimed Offenders.

On July 22, this year, the NIA submitted a charge sheet against nine people, including Dala, Landa, and Rinda.

On August 20, last year, the NIA opened a case on its own. It relates to the terrorist operations of chiefs and members of pro-Khalistan terrorist organizations such as the Khalistan Liberation Force, Babbar Khalsa International, and the International Sikh Youth Federation.

According to the NIA, they were involved in the smuggling of terrorist hardware, including arms, ammunition, explosives, and custom-made ready-to-use IEDs, as well as other types of contraband, including drugs, from across the border, along with operatives and members of terror outfits and organized criminal gangs operating in various parts of the country.

"Investigations have revealed that the accused persons had entered into a criminal conspiracy to smuggle terrorist hardware, such as arms, ammunition explosive, IEDs etc. across international borders for use by their associates in carrying out terrorist acts in the Indian territory. They were also involved in recruitment of terrorist cadres in India and raising funds for proscribed organizations."
