PTC News Desk: Today, in a significant development, two individuals suspected of being involved in the high-profile murder of Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) chief Nafe Singh Rathi last month were apprehended. The arrests of Saurabh and Ashish were made through a joint operation conducted by Haryana Police and the Special Cell of Delhi Police in Goa. Both shooters are believed to have ties to the notorious Kapil Sangwan gang.

The tragic incident unfolded on February 25 at a railway crossing in Haryana's Jhajjar district. As Nafe Singh Rathi's Toyota Fortuner came to a halt, it was ambushed by a mysterious i20 car. Five assailants emerged, raining bullets upon the SUV. Mr. Rathi, aged 66, along with a loyal aide, succumbed to the attack, while two others sustained critical injuries. Interestingly, the attackers spared the life of Mr. Rathi's nephew, instructing him to inform the family about the assault.

Arpit Jain, Superintendent of Police in Jhajjar, disclosed ongoing efforts to identify and arrest the remaining shooters. The recovery of the car used by the assailants has already been accomplished. The investigation has widened to include questioning individuals named in the FIR, including former BJP MLA Naresh Kaushik, and others like Vijender Rathee, Sandeep Rathee, and Rajpal alias Pale Ram.

Dilip Singh, a resident of Rajasthan's Balotra, was detained in connection with threatening calls made to Mr. Rathi's sons. Despite his social media following of certain gangsters, Singh, during interrogation, did not reveal direct links to established criminal networks.

Previously, Nafe Singh Rathi's family reported receiving 18 threat calls from an unidentified number. Responding to the situation, Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij announced the transfer of the murder investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Senior INLD leader Abhay Singh Chautala criticised the BJP-JJP government in Haryana, alleging a failure to provide adequate security to Mr. Rathi despite known threats to his life.
