Mukhtar Ansari's last rites today; mortal remains brought to his residence
PTC News Desk: The body of gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari was brought to his Ghazipur residence for last rites amid a heavy police presence.
Ansari's elder brother, Sibgatullah Ansari, confirmed that the last rites will be performed on Saturday.
"We received the body after a delay, so the last rites cannot be performed tonight. It will be finished tomorrow morning. I request everyone to pray for him," Sibgatullah Ansari said on Friday.
Earlier in the day, Mukhtar Ansari's body was taken from Banda to Ghazipur following a post-mortem at Banda Medical College and Hospital.
The gangster-politician died in a hospital in Banda, Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday. Meanwhile, a three-member team will launch a magisterial investigation into Ansari's death.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate Banda issued orders regarding the judicial investigation. Officials stated that the post-mortem will be carried out by a panel of two doctors and videotaped.
Mukhtar Ansari's post-mortem examination confirmed that he died of cardiac arrest, not poisoning.
A senior hospital source who oversaw the post-mortem examination on Friday informed that "the cause of death of Mukhtar Ansari was found to be a heart attack (myocardial infarction). A five-member panel of doctors conducted the autopsy."
