Monsoon fury in Uttarakhand: Pipalkoti road on Badrinath NH blocked; tourists stranded
Monsoon mayhem in Uttarakhand: Due to torrential and relentless rainfall and thunderstorm in Uttarakhand, the road near Pipalkoti on the Badrinath National Highway was blocked due to debris on Tuesday.
Taking to their Twitter handle, Chamoli police shared the visuals from the spot on Twitter, showing a huge pile of debris on the road.
"Road blocked due to debris from a hill near Pipalkoti on Badrinath National Highway," Chamoli Police said in a tweet.
Commuter chaos due to falling of debris
Scores of commuters, including tourists as well as locals are stranded for hour’s enroute to Badrinath highway.
Traffic was stalled and disrupted on the Badrinath National Highway due to the falling and piling up of debris from landslides in the region.
Gangotri-Yamunotri NH blocked, traffic standstill
Earlier, due to heavy downpours, Yamunotri National Highway blocked and hampered the traffic movement on the highway.
Traffic was suspended at a number of places along the Gangotri-Yamunotri National Highway to constant rainfall in Uttarakhand's Uttarkashi district.

Uttarakhand's Uttarkashi district was facing the threat of getting damaged following landslides around the area, leaving authorities concerned.
Following the landslide, District Disaster Management Officer, Devendra Patwal said that the officials of the concerned executive body have been informed regarding the tunnel's safety.
