PTC News Desk: A viral video from Uttar Pradesh captures a startling incident where a man, sitting nonchalantly on a plastic chair in the middle of a busy road during heavy rain, is struck by a truck. The 17-second clip, which has gained widespread attention on social media, shows the man in black shorts sitting unperturbed on a chair as vehicles navigate around him on a road in Pratapgarh.

In the video, the man is seen seated with his legs folded, seemingly oblivious to the traffic and the onlookers around him. The scene unfolds near a police check post, yet no action was taken to remove him from the dangerous position despite his proximity to law enforcement.

As vehicles honk and pass by, the man appears indifferent to the commotion and interacts with the people jeering at him. A truck approaches from behind, and despite the loud environment, the man remains unaware of the approaching vehicle. The truck, traveling at high speed, collides with the side of his chair, causing the man to be thrown to the ground.

The impact, though significant, did not seem to cause immediate visible injuries to the man, who is seen lying on the road and looking around in shock. Despite the severity of the incident, onlookers can be heard urging the truck driver to continue driving and not stop to check on the man’s condition.

"After immediate investigation, we informed the family of the young man that he is mentally ill and has been handed over to them. The truck that hit him is being identified, and legal proceedings are underway," the police stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
