Diwali turns tragic: Man, nephew shot dead in Delhi's Shahdara over long standing feud

The eyewitnesses described the event as bone chilling and said that two men came on the scooter and touched Akash's feet before firing.

PTC News Desk: Diwali celebrations turned tragic for a family when a 40-year-old man and his teenage nephew were shot dead while his son suffered injuries. Two assailants opened fire outside their home during Diwali in Delhi's Shahdara. 


The victims, Akash Sharma, his nephew Rishabh Sharma and son Krish Sharma were celebrating Diwali when they were attacked around 8 pm. The eyewitnesses described the event as bone chilling and said that two men came on the scooter and touched Akash's feet before firing. 


The incident was caught on CCTC which shows Akash and Rishabh, both wearing yellow kurtas, preparing to burst firecrackers when the accused reached the spot on their scooter. As Akash moved inside the house one of the accused started firing. Nephew Rishabh was also shot when he ran behind them when they flee the spot.


Following the incident, three of them were rushed to the hospital where the man and his nephew were declared brought dead while his son is undergoing treatment. 


Akash's wife has identified the attackers and said that there has been a feud going on between them since many years. "Around 8.30 pm, we received a PCR call informing that there had been firing in the Bihari Colony and some people were injured. Upon reaching the spot, it was known that Akash, his nephew Rishabh and his son Krish were shot. Akash and Rishabh have lost their lives. In the preliminary investigation, we have found that five rounds of bullets were fired," DCP Shahdara Prashant Gautam said. 


According to the officials, the case seems to be of personal long standing enmity and that investigation has been launched into the matter.
