Man detained for hoax call warning of 'serial bomb blasts' on Mumbai local trains
Official suspects drunken state during the call
Mumbai, August 6: The Mumbai Police received a distressing call in the morning, where an individual threatened of "serial bomb blasts" on local trains. Acting swiftly, the police detained a 25-year-old man from the Juhu area for allegedly making the hoax call. Officials suspect that the man was under the influence of alcohol when he made the threatening call.
The caller informed the police control room about a planted bomb in a local train in Mumbai and warned of multiple bomb blasts about to occur. He claimed to be calling from the Vile Parle area.
The police immediately initiated investigations and used technical evidence to trace the location of the caller's mobile phone. Consequently, they apprehended the man in the Juhu area, where he had made the threatening call. It was discovered during the inquiry that the man had recently arrived in Mumbai from Bihar and had been in the city for the last ten days.
Authorities also seized the mobile phone used to make the hoax call as part of the investigation.
Preliminary information revealed that the man had a habit of drinking alcohol regularly, leading officials to suspect that he made the call while in an inebriated state.
"We are currently gathering more information about him," stated the official, indicating that further inquiries are ongoing.
