PTC Web Desk: A 30-year-old Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supporter chopped off his finger and offered it at a temple in Chhattisgarh's Balrampur on the Lok Sabha election result day.

Durgesh Pandey initially became depressed when he noticed Congress was ahead in the Lok Sabha election's early trends, according to an India Today story. Following this, he visited the Goddess Kali temple and prayed for the BJP's victory. A few hours later, when he saw that the BJP-led NDA had won, he returned to the shrine, severed his left hand's finger, and offered it to the Goddess, according to reports.

The report further stated that Pandey attempted to stop the bleeding by tying a handkerchief around the wound. However, as his condition deteriorated, the man's family took him to the Community Health Centre in Samari, where doctors conducted surgery.

Unfortunately, due to the delay in treatment, they were unable to reattach his amputated finger. The report stated that Pandey is currently stable and recovering.

BJP gained 240 seats in the Lok Sabha election, securing its third consecutive term in office. However, the NDA's total tally was at 293. Modi will take oath as prime minister for the third time on Sunday. More than 8,000 people will attend the swearing-in ceremony, including professionals and cultural performers.
