Maharashtra: Eight dead after massive blast at ordnance factory in Bhandara
The cause of the explosion remains unknown, and the investigation is ongoing
PTC Web Desk: A powerful explosion was reported at an ordnance factory in Bhandara district, Maharashtra, killing at least eight persons and injuring 7 others, as confirmed by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
The blast took place around 10 am in the RK Branch section of the factory. The explosion caused a roof to collapse, trapping 12 persons inside. While two persons have been rescued, 10 others remain stuck under the debris, according to district officials.
Rescue teams, including firefighters, ambulances, and police, were quickly dispatched to the site, and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has also been deployed. The authorities are working to clear the debris using JCB machines. An investigation has been initiated to determine the cause of the blast.
Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole has criticized the incident, calling it a failure of the Modi government to ensure safety at such facilities. The cause of the explosion remains unknown, and the investigation is ongoing.
