Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024: Akshay Kumar, Rajkummar Rao, Farhan Akhtar among early voters in Mumbai
Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, actor Akshay Kumar, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar, and Rajkummar Rao were among the early voters in the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections. Bollywood celebrities left their residences early in the day to exercise their fundamental right to vote.
Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024: Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, actor Akshay Kumar, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar, and Rajkummar Rao were among the early voters in the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections. Bollywood celebrities left their residences early in the day to exercise their fundamental right to vote.
Sachin Tendulkar, his wife Anjali, and his daughter Sara voted at a Mumbai polling booth. The trio displayed their inked fingers to the reporters.
"I've been an icon of the ECI (Election Commission of India) for quite some time. The message I am sending is to show up and vote. This is our responsibility. I hope people make an effort to vote. I urge everyone to vote," said Sachin Tendulkar.
Akshay Kumar showed his inked finger after voting. While interacting with the media, Akshay Kumar urged people to vote. Kumar praised the arrangements made at the polling station, saying, "The arrangements for the elderly are excellent. Cleanliness has been maintained. I want everyone to come out and vote."
Rajkummar Rao voted at a polling station at Mumbai's Gyan Kendra Secondary School. He urged people to do the "important" duty of voting.
"It is our right in a democracy, so we should go outside and vote. I have fulfilled my duty. It's your time now. Please vote," actor Rajkummar Rao said.
Film directors Kabir Khan and Zoya Akhtar, actor Ali Fazal, and filmmaker and actor Farhan Akhtar all came out early to vote and complete their responsibilities.
Voting for the single-phase Maharashtra assembly election began at 7 a.m. and will end at 6 p.m. Polling is taking place in 288 assembly constituencies.
The elections include 4,136 candidates, including 2,086 independents.
